Program: 14 Days Historic Route of Ethiopia and Eritrea
Day 1: Arrival Addis Ababa Sightseeing
Up on arrival at Bole international airport and met by the company
representatives and transfer to hotel. After check in to hotel, you will have a
welcoming coffee ceremony and city tour of Addis. It includes; National Museum,
the home of the famous complete hominid fossil remain of Lucy dates 3.2 million
years back, Mount Entoto, panoramic view point at the highest peak in Addis
with an altitude of 3200 meter above sea level, Trinity Cathedral, a beautiful
church with a baroque style of European architecture unique to both Ethiopia
and Africa, Ethnographic Museum and Merkato (the largest open air market in
Africa).

Day 2: Fly to Bahir Dar then explorer Blue
Nile falls and Lake Tana Monasteries
In the morning, transfer in to airport to fly to Bahirdar. After check-in to
hotel journey by sympathetic African plains eventually leads to the mighty Blue
Nile fall commonly known as "Tis Isat" (water that smokes). After
hiking, the cataracts drive back to Bahirdar.
After lunch, boat excursion on Lake Tana. On Lake Tana time has still stood and
dominated by an archaic, dating from early Christian mysticism and the
religious interpretations of African art are characterized by the Ethiopian
Christianity, and the world's Old Testament is still practiced. Visit
Ura-Kidanemihret monastery, which are rich in icon painting.
Overnight in bahirdar.
Day 3: Drive to Gondar then sightseeing
Morning, drive to Gondar, which was one of the hidden cities of the foreign
trade area in the 17th century AD. Gondar is the site of ancient castle
building palaces of different emperors constructed in the European middle age
architectural style. After check-in to hotel visit the curious symbiosis of
Ethiopian and Portuguese architectural representation of the Royal Enclosure
which is also known as" the Camelot of Africa", the iconic church of
Debre Birehanselassie, bath of king Fasilledes which still in use for the
colorful celebration of Ethiopian epiphany (Timket).
Overnight in Gondar.
Day 4: visit the magnificent Simien Mountains
After breakfast, drive to Simien Mountains National Park which is the most
marvelous of all Abyssinian landscapes. Simien Mountain National Park
constitutes many summits above 4000masl and culminates at Ras Dashen, the
highest peak in Ethiopian and it is the home of the endemics Gelada Baboon,
Ethiopian wolf and Walya ibex. After visiting drive back to Gondar.

Day 5: Fly to Axum
After breakfast, transfer in to airport to fly to the ancient town of Axum.
After check-in to hotel visit the archaeological and historical attractions in
Axum; which include, The Archaeological Museum, Monolithic Steles, The Tombs of
King Kaleb and King GebreMeskal, and the legendary Bath of the Queen of Sheba,
and the ruins of ancient palace of Queen Sheba. You also visit the new and the
old Cathedral of St. Mary of Zion and the sanctuary that houses the original
Arc of the Covenant. The 16th Century Cathedral of St. Mary of Zion was
probably built on an earlier 4th century church, and is the holiest church in
Ethiopia. In its sanctuary is said to rest the original Ark of the Covenant.

Day 6: -Fly to Lalibela then explore the
rockhewen churches
In the morning, transfer in to airport to fly to the legendary and the framed
of Ascetic Mountain town of Lalibela. After check-in to hotel, on this day
explore the 12th c. Rock-Hewn Churches, Lalibela is famous for its rock-hewn
churches and these brilliant feats of engineering and architecture are often
referred to as the eighth wonder of the World. There are many rock churches in
Lalibela, some hidden in enormous caves.

Day 7: Fly back to Addis Ababa
This day you will have leisure time. In the evening, farewell traditional
dinner in one of the best restaurant in Addis followed by folkloric dance of
different Ethiopian nations.

Day 8: Arrival in Eritrea
You
will be met at the airport and be transferred to the Hotel Asmara Palace or a
similar location. Breakfast and dinner are included in your stay. After settling in at your hotel a
guided tour of Asmara has been put together. A guide will take you to see
Asmara’s cathedrals, mosques, the theatre and the unique Fiat Tagliero, which
looks like a service station out of a Hollywood science fiction movie.
Recuperate at the Asmara Palace Hotel or similar with dinner and breakfast
before continuing your tour the following day.
Day 9: Tour the City of Asmara
Once
you have enjoyed your breakfast you will be able to explore more of Asmara.
Primary attractions in this beautiful city include a trip to St. Mary’s Coptic
church, the city’s cathedral, National museum, a visit to see Alexander
Pushkin’s statue of this famous Russian poet and end the day with an intriguing
visit to the local market to enjoy the local arts and crafts at the Khulafa al
Rashedin. Our visitors will spend the night at the Asmara Palace hotel or a
similar location. Breakfast and dinner will be included.
Day 10: Asmara - Keren – A Must
See
Following
breakfast at your hotel, you can anticipate a drive to the high plateau where
Keren is situated. These misty mountains lie at the heart of the agricultural
sector of Eritrea tourism. Tourists will be fascinated by the camel and
livestock market, which is an enormous attraction in the area along with other
popular markets in the area. The guide will take you to see the silver and wood
marketplace, Imperial Palace ruins and war cemetery. Later, tourists will
overnight at the Sarina Hotel or a similar hotel, where breakfast and dinner
are included.
Day 11: Massawa / Keren
Take
a leisurely drive to the city of Massawa through the Filfil, which is Eritrea’s
tropical forest where many species of tropical birds may be seen. As a part of
the Semenawi-Bahri, this popular rainforest destination provides dramatic
scenery as the landscape transforms going down toward the coastal region. The
variety of fauna and flora on this trip is magnificent and tourists can get to
see all of this while being transported through the region. The Red Sea hotel
or similar welcomes its visitors overnight and for a delicious breakfast and
dinner.
Day 12: Massawa
The
rich history offered by Massawa includes several eras and kingdoms along a
string of islands including the well-known Dahlak Islands. Formerly known as
the ‘Pearl of the Red Sea’, Massawa remains an important port in the region.
Characterized by exquisite Turkish architecture, lazy sandy beaches, swimming
pools and a shopping mecca, Massawa is a popular tourist destination on this
tour. The Red Sea hotel or similar is ready to host their guests for a pleasant
breakfast, luncheon and dinner.
Day 13: Enjoy a Journey to
Massawa, Mendefera and Asmara
On
the final day of your tour, tourists can relax while heading back to Asmara.
Mendefera is along the way where a stop will be made to take in the stunning
mountain views before arriving in Asmara. Here, the Hotel Asmara or similar
hotel will be arranged to overnight, with breakfast and lunch on offer.
Day 14: Asmara and Return Home
Enjoy
a relaxing breakfast and what is left of your time on Eritrea travel and before
being driven back to the airport.
